Airbrush Artist Challanges a 3-D Snake Snakebite 1:

Airbrushing Realistic Snake Patterns “Western Diamondback Rattler”
This project was for a taxidermy shop that needed realistic designs and patterns applied to a resin cast of a authentic WESTERN DIAMONDBACK RATTLER.
Having some 17 years plus of airbrushing and many more years experience in assorted art fields, I felt that this project would be a piece of cake…..Wrong, lol. As with most new projects, this particular one was fraught with unforeseen difficulties and challenges that more then made this seemingly easy project a challenge.
The client supplied me with Lacquer taxidermy paints,…in a effort to short cut and speed up production and alleviate the strong smell of solvent based paints I used my basic water color airbrush paint,…word to your mother; DON’T DO THAT!, paints made for this type of project dry faster, cover stronger and blend much different then water based paints on this substrate, the difference is startling. Suffer with the smell and wear a carbon filter mask till you can play around with paints at leisure and not on a clients project.
Project finished!! the results were excellent, the realism cant be denied and the client was quite pleased,…I earned another dollar in my pocket, skills in my head and my heart was satisfied with overcoming the challenge of a seemingly simple project….
